Dr. Yung Han, MD
Dr. Han was a former U.S. National Team member and Resident Athlete in taekwondo at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and has won numerous gold medals at the national and international levels. During his time as an athlete, he became interested in exercise physiology, sports medicine, and orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Han began his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Kinesiology. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at McGill University.
While orthopaedic surgeons may do an optional subspecialty fellowship, Dr. Han completed three prestigious international fellowships from world-renowned shoulder surgeons: (1) Advanced Shoulder Arthroscopy with Dr. Seung-Ho Kim in Seoul, Korea; (2) Shoulder Surgery with Dr. Pascal Boileau in Nice, France; and (3) Shoulder and Elbow Reconstruction at Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA. This unique and highly specialized training allows Dr. Han to bring in a unique skill set and philosophy in dealing with shoulder pathology to better help patients.
While Dr. Han has extensive and specialized training in shoulder surgery, he also does general orthopaedics, sports medicine, joint replacement, and fracture care. He has authored numerous publications, book chapters, oral and video presentations, and surgical demonstrations. Dr. Han was on the medical team for the LA Dodgers, Montreal Alouettes, World Police and Fire Games, and USA Taekwondo. He currently serves as an instructor for shoulder surgery and is the director of the Los Angeles Shoulder Institute.
Dr. Han established Han Orthopaedics to serve the community of central Los Angeles. Han Orthopaedics has quickly gained a reputation for treating patients with honesty, compassion, and excellence.
